Charissis played college basketball at USC with the USC Trojans from 1999 to 2003.
Charissis began his professional career with AS Papagou during the 1998-99 season. After playing 4 years of college basketball with the USC Trojans (1999-03), he joined Olympiacos Piraeus for the 2003-04 season. He then moved to Ilisiakos for the 2004-05 season.
He spent the next two seasons with Olympiada Patras, and he spent the 2007-08 season with AEK Athens. He joined Colossus Rhodes prior to the start of the 2008-09 season.
